Prison Island takes approximately 30 minutes to get there by boat from Stone Town. The prison was built on this island in 1893, it was later used as a quarantine hospital.
It has a frangipani lined path around the island where the former patients took their evening walks.
Apart from the prison ruins you can also see the beautiful peacocks and the giant tortoises,
some of which are over 100 years old. It is also a way to see Stone Town from the sea.
Free time for sunbathing and swimming. Excellent snorkeling around the island. Don’t miss this beautiful experience!
